Permits And Plan Check
In the City of Los Angeles, LADBS issues express permits online for electrical work up to 600 volts and 400 amps in existing office, retail and residential buildings when no plan review is needed. Larger or engineered work goes through plan check. We tell you which one your job is before you sign.
Workplace Charging
LADWP’s commercial charger rebate was closed to new applications when we checked on October 2, 2026. Its page announced a reopening in October 2026 with revised terms. We check the current terms before quoting any charger project.
Contractor Or Electrician?
An electrical contractor is the licensed business: the CSLB issues the C-10 license and the contractor pulls the permit and signs the contract. An electrician is the certified person who does the work. On a commercial job you want both to be verifiable.
Questions We Hear A Lot
What is the difference between an electrical contractor and an electrician?
The contractor holds the C-10 license from the CSLB and signs the contract and the permit. The electrician is certified by the state’s Division of Labor Standards Enforcement and works for the contractor.
Can the work be done outside business hours?
Yes, for work that would close your floor. Ask when you call.
Do you carry insurance?
Yes, we are licensed and insured (CA License #1159199). The CSLB license check shows the license status and workers’ compensation. We send the liability certificate with the quote.
